【摘要】:ThisCodeofPracticedealswiththeinvestigationofsitesforthepurposesofassessingtheirsuitabilityfortheconstructionofcivilengineeringandbuildingworksandofacquiringknowledgeofthecharacteristicsofasitethataffectthedesignandconstructionofsuchworkandthesecurityofneighbouringlandandproperty.Ithasbeenassumedthatintheselectionofconstructionsitesdueregardhasbeenpaidtothewiderenvironmentalandeconomicconsiderationsaffectingthecommunitygenerally.Morethanonesitemayrequiredetailedinvestigationbeforethefinalchoiceismade.Inthiscode,theexpressionSiteInvestigationhasbeenusedinitswidersense.Itisoftenusedelsewhereinanarrowsensetodescribetheexplorationoftheground,whichinthiscodehasbeentermedGroundInvestigation.Itistobenoted,however,thatalthoughthetreatmentofgroundinvestigationisdetailed,thetreatmentofotheraspectsofsiteinvestigationislessdetailed.Theuseofsoilandrockasconstructionmaterialsistreatedonlybriefly;furtherinformationisgiveninBS6031.
